Your Guide to Working with Merit Content as an SEO Copywriter
Welcome to Merit Content! This Writers Service Agreement ("Agreement") outlines the terms and conditions governing your work as a freelance SEO copywriter for our agency. By accepting assignments from Merit Content, you agree to the following terms, ensuring a professional and productive collaboration.
As a freelance writer for Merit Content, you will be responsible for creating high-quality, SEO-optimized content. This may include, but is not limited to, blog posts, articles, website copy, product descriptions, and other written materials based on the project requirements. All content must be original, engaging, and optimized according to the best SEO practices.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Merit Content offers compensation on a per-project, per-word, or hourly basis, as mutually agreed upon before each project starts. Payment terms are as follows:
Writers are expected to deliver content within the specified deadlines for each project. If a delay is anticipated, you must notify Merit Content as soon as possible to make alternative arrangements. Repeated missed deadlines without prior notice may result in termination of this agreement.
Merit Content reserves the right to request revisions on submitted content to ensure it meets client specifications and quality standards. Writers will have 3 business days to complete requested revisions. In cases where significant changes are required due to deviations from the brief, additional compensation may be discussed.
Upon payment for each completed project, all content created by the writer will become the exclusive property of Merit Content or its clients. Writers waive any rights to claim ownership, reuse, or republish the content in any form unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
As a writer for Merit Content, you agree to maintain the confidentiality of all proprietary information, project details, and any client-specific instructions shared with you. You may not disclose, reuse, or share confidential information with third parties without prior consent.
This Agreement does not establish an exclusive working relationship between the writer and Merit Content. Writers are free to pursue other freelance work outside of Merit Content, provided it does not interfere with the agreed-upon deadlines or obligations to Merit Content.
Merit Content reserves the right to terminate this Agreement at any time, with or without cause. In the event of termination, payment will be made for all completed and approved work up to the termination date. Writers may also terminate the agreement with a 10-day written notice.
Writers must comply with all relevant guidelines, including SEO best practices, client-specific instructions, and Merit Content’s editorial standards. Plagiarism, the submission of AI-generated content without substantial human editing, or content duplication will not be tolerated and may result in immediate termination of this Agreement.
In the event of a dispute arising from this Agreement, both parties agree to first attempt to resolve the issue amicably through communication. If the dispute cannot be resolved, it may be referred to a neutral arbitrator or a court of competent jurisdiction.
This Agreement is governed by the laws of New York State, and any legal action must be taken within the appropriate courts of this jurisdiction.
By accepting writing assignments from Merit Content, you agree to the terms and conditions outlined in this Agreement. You acknowledge that failure to adhere to these terms may result in termination of the working relationship.
